Destinations in CA for the weekend warriors:

Mount Shasta - my favorite big mountain close to San Francisco. Just 4 hours driving to this 14er.

Yosemite the bigger playground, also about 4 (more difficult) hours of driving away. Still be fleshed out.

Postcard from a short visit to the valley.

Tolumnee Meadows - upper Yosemite is more fun for uncrowded hiking.

Bishop Pass - fun in the Eastern Sierra, if a bit of a long drive. Good to combine with a Yosemite trip.

Mount Whitney - tallest in the 48 states.

Big Sur - a simple overnight jaunt on the coast.
